Assessment Department
The Assessing Department is responsible for the valuing of all residential, commercial, industrial and personal property in the City of Livonia and answers inquiries from residents, property owners, mortgage companies, prospective buyers, businessmen, appraisers, and government agencies.

Engineering
The Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works processes permits for work within the public right-of-way, inspects public construction work, reviews plans for public improvements, conducts engineering studies, prepares plans and specifications and administers contracts for the City's public improvement projects.

Housing
The mission of the Livonia Housing Commission is to provide adequate housing and community development assistance, and to expand and preserve decent, safe and affordable housing for low and moderate income families. The Commission is further committed to providing quality services to our clients in an effective, efficient and respectful manner.

Information Systems
The Information Systems (IS) Department is responsible for the computer hardware and software used by the City. The IS Department assists other City Departments in evaluating, selecting and implementing computer systems. It also sets the standards for City computer systems.

Inspection (Building & Enforcement)
The department provides information, examines and approves plans, issues permits and conducts follow-up inspections for all new construction as well as additions/alterations to both residential and commercial buildings. It also issues Certificates of Occupancy for new construction.
