Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission (the Commission that oversees the City of Livonia’s version of the Human Resource Department) creates and executes the rules and regulations pertaining to City employment. Our Commissioners, who serve a 6 year term, at the pleasure of the Mayor, establish a position classification plan, an examination program, determine compensation for City employees, as well as a retirement, insurance, and disability plan. They also hear any grievances that an employee may have.
Meetings: Our meetings are open to the public and meet the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the 5th Floor Gallery of City Hall (unless otherwise noted). If you have questions, suggestions, or just want to listen, we encourage citizen involvement and look forward to meeting you!
