Schoolcraft College celebrates students completing the Registered Apprenticeship Program!

Schoolcraft College recently held a celebration to recognize and honor the first students to complete their Registered Apprenticeship Program since it was reinstated at the college in 2015. Wellington Industries, located in Belleville, was the first company to sponsor apprentices Jesse Dennis and Tim Buffett, making them the first to complete the four-year program in partnership with Schoolcraft College.  Wellington currently has four more employees in the program.

Today, the College is working with 16 companies in 14 various apprenticeship occupations, with the majority being three and four-year programs.  Additionally, there are over 30 students currently working as registered apprentices and 28 in pre-apprenticeships.

NEW for this round:

Here’s why you should NEVER flush disposable wipes

Categories: Front Page News

Disposable wipes that are flushed down the toilet are creating severe blockages and damaging equipment across the entire regional sewer system. This video, distributed by the Great Lakes Water Authority, shows the severe damage that these supposedly flushable wipes cause to wastewater collection and treatment equipment because they don’t break down like toilet paper, but clump together in pipes and cling to equipment.
