Rec Center Readers Book Club: 'The Host' by Stephenie Meyer

This month, the Rec Center Readers Book Club is reading "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer. You can borrow this book from Livonia Public Libraries. This event will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Kirksey Recreation Center. While this book club meeting is free for members of The Rec, there is a $3 fee for residents and $5 for non-residents. "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer follows Melanie Stryder, a young woman whose body is taken over by an alien "soul" named Wanderer. As Wanderer experiences Melanie's memories and emotions, she begins to sympathize with Melanie's fight to protect her loved ones. The novel explores themes of identity, survival, and the power of human emotion in a world overtaken by alien invaders.

As the exterior walls for the new Livonia Senior Wellness Center continue to rise along the east side of the Kirksey Recreation Center, the exterior walls for the new West Gym are starting to form. New interior renderings are available at LivoniaBuilt.org.
