Touch-a-Truck

Join us for Touch-a-Truck 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24! Touch-a-Truck is a hands-on family event that provides a unique opportunity for children and adults alike to explore vehicles of all types, including vehicles for public service, emergencies, construction, military, utility, and more – all in one place! Kids can blast sirens, crawl inside the vehicles, and learn how these trucks operate up close and personal. This event will be hosted at Greenmead Historical Park. There is a recommended donation of $5 per visitor vehicle parked, and all proceeds will go to charity. Churchill High School Interact Club and the Rotary Club of Livonia present this event. Check out our Facebook event.

Quiet time with no horns or sirens lasts from 8:30-10:30 a.m. When it’s time to refuel, you’ll find an excellent variety of food vendors scattered throughout the event space.

Community Survey

The City of Livonia has thrived because community priorities are shaped by the residents. Ongoing outreach to gather feedback on City services, programs, and events is crucial for future success.

A new survey is now available to collect input from residents on important issues. Completing the survey takes just a few minutes and will be integral in assessing the City's efforts on behalf of its residents and businesses.

Hundreds of Livonia residents have already participated, and everyone is encouraged to make their voice heard through this survey.

The Rec east lawn turned over and prepped for construction

#RecreatingTheRec

Construction began July 16, with exterior site work. The Rec will be closing the East FitHub (Strength Hub) Aug. 26, so interior construction can begin shortly afterward. The Main Gyms will close in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025. You can visit our website to see the specific timeline for each phase. For more details, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.

In lieu of a full Kirksey Recreation Center closure this year, The Rec will have partial closures of several areas and gyms in the coming weeks. Both MAC Gyms will be closed Aug. 22-23, and both MAC Gyms and the FitHub will be closed Aug. 26-29, with the East FitHub remaining closed until the Livonia Senior Wellness Center is complete. Other facilities will continue operations uninterrupted. The LivoniaBuilt website includes each of these dates and the expanse of each upcoming closure.

Stay up to date on construction at the Kirksey Recreation Center and Livonia Senior Wellness Center at LivoniaBuilt.org. You've already subscribed to this e-newsletter, so make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and bookmark the website for all the latest details.
