Party Like It's 1929!

Join us for a swingin' good time with a 1920s Garden Party 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Greenmead Historical Park's Simmons-Hill House.

Take a stroll through the gardens, learn how to dance the Charleston, play games and visit our secret speakeasy for some prohibition-themed mocktails! Your ticket will include four mocktail tastings, small sandwiches, pastries and all the games, activities and other beverages.

1920s-era apparel is encouraged, but not required. Tickets cost $20 per Livonia resident and $25 for non-residents, and can be purchased online.

Learn About Reptile and Amphibian Ownership and Care

Thinking about getting a pet gecko, or maybe a snake? Join us 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Greenmead Historical Park's Alexander Blue House for Reptiles in Residence. We'll be talking about the different types of reptiles and amphibians, and how to properly care for them. From enclosures to food, lighting and any other questions you may have, aspiring pet owners won't want to miss this.

Advance registration required. Cost is $12.

Eight More FREE Concerts Continuing Through August

We're just about midway through our FREE summer concert series on the Kirksey Recreation Center east lawn. We've shifted the stage closer to the south parking lot to keep the sun out of your eyes and open up more accessible paved space for dancing!

We have three more children's shows 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 1-15, and five more Music From the Heart shows 7 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 3-31. A full list of bands and updates can be found here. Keep an eye on Facebook in case of weather cancelations, or call (734) 466-2299 before you go.
