Ride a Cardboard Boat, Enjoy Wet Dogs at Botsford Pool Aug. 21-22

If poolside fun is your jam, you'll want to sign up to join up both Aug. 21-22 at Botsford Pool.

The 17th Annual Cardboard Boat Race returns 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21. Participants will build boats at home using only cardboard and duct tape, and vie for Most Creative Design and Fastest Boat awards. No more than four people per boat. Life jacket will be required to be worn by those racing. Register here to join the fun!

The pool will go to the dogs 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, during our Dog Swim. Bring your furry friends and join us for a fun evening full of wet dogs! Cost is $4 per Livonia resident dog and $7 per non-resident dog, but there is no cost for Kirksey Recreation Center members or outdoor pool pass holders. Pay at the gate. No pre-registration required.

FitHub TVs Launch hearTV

Listening to the TVs in the Fitness Hub has a new setup at the Kirksey Recreation Center. Instead of plugging into each piece of equipment, you can now download the “hearTV” application from the App Store or GooglePlay.

Make sure your Wi-Fi is connected to “Fit Hub TVs” instead of the “Public” Wi-Fi or using data, and launch the hearTV app. You’ll be able to see the different TV numbers and choose the TV you’d like to listen to.

The Wilson Barn Farmers Market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday July 9-Oct. 8 (excluding Sept. 3), but the Aug. 13 will have a bonus feature: a petting zoo! Make sure to stop by to shop local produce and pet some farm animals!
