Commodity Foods Distribution
Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) surplus commodity food is distributed on a monthly basis to qualified low-income Livonia residents based on their total household income and residency. Residents who receive SSI, Bridge Card or Medicaid benefits are automatically eligible. Those receiving all other sources of income must qualify based on federal income guidelines. Focus: HOPE Food Distribution
U.S.D.A. commodity foods in pre-packaged boxes are distributed on a monthly basis to qualified low-income Livonia senior residents (over 60 years of age) to sustain their health and independence. City staff and volunteers assist seniors with food pickups or deliver boxes to those who are homebound. To apply for a Focus: HOPE food box or for further information, contact Carrie Jo at the Senior Center (734) 466-2557.
Utility Shut-off Assistance
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are available to qualified low-income Livonia residents who have a current utility shut-off notice. CDBG funding provides payment of gas, electric or fuel heating bills, up to a combined maximum of $500 on a one-time-only basis.
