Yard Waste

Yard waste is collected on the weekly trash collection day.  The 2020 Weekly Separated Yard Waste program runs on your trash pick up day from Monday, March 30 through Friday, Dec. 11 (weather permitting). The 2021 Weekly Separated Yard Waste program runs on your trash pick up day from Monday, March  29 through Friday, Dec. 10.

Yard waste should be placed in up to 35-gallon cans marked with a yard waste sticker or in paper compost bags. Yard waste stickers can be requested by emailing Public Service or calling (734) 466-2655.  Disposal of yard waste after the scheduled collection has ended must be taken to the city dump located at 32500 Glendale.  VIEW MAP

BRANCHES

Branches less than four feet long and four inches or less in diameter must be bundled, tied and placed out on your regular trash collection day. Up to five bundles a week, weighing less than 50 pounds each, may be placed out for pick up.

Examples of Items Not Collected at the Curb

  • Automobile parts
  • Broken concrete, masonry or dirt
  • Chemicals
  • Demolished structures, building debris or construction material (responsibility of contractor or resident)
  • Hot ashes
  • Large amounts of rubbish from clean-up, moving, flooding, fire, etc. Disposal of these items is the resident’s responsibility
  • Paint (latex or water-based paint may be disposed of with regular trash provided the lid has been removed and the paint has dried)
  • Sod, stumps, logs or limbs over four inches in diameter
  • Waste oil or anti-freeze (View the Refuse Disposal Site)
